Company Orchards
Growing our company orchards (both owned and leased) is a core business focus. Over the last 18 months, we have grown our company orchards from 3600 acres to over 11,000.
Our current orchards are across three states with developments near Robinvale (Northern Vicrtoria), orchards in the Riverina district (New South Wales) and our new greenfield development in the Dandaragan Plateau (WA).
Growth in Western Australia
Select Harvests has secured 4,300 acres on the Dandaragan Plateau in Western Australia. The Dandaragan Plateau region is in the northern wheat belt of WA.
Stage one of this project is the development of 2,000 acres of greenfield orchards. Planting these 2000 acres was completed in August 2010. The first crop is expected in 2013, with full maturity expected in 2017.
The second stage comprising a further 2,300 acres with accompanying water licences is due for plant-out in the Winter of 2011. There is the opportunity to grow these orchards to 10,000 acres in total.
The climate and soil type indicate excellent growing conditions and there is reliable and cost effective long term water supply.
